System integration engineering
Engineering support for the installation and integration of EW subsystems into vehicle, maritime, airborne, or fixed installations.
CellQual provides engineering and professional services for the integration and field validation of electronic warfare systems, subsystems, and electromagnetic spectrum capabilities for defense and government organizations. We plan and execute field validation programs that test EW capability under realistic electromagnetic conditions — giving defense organizations the evidence they need before committing a system to operational use.
Electronic warfare systems are complex, spectrum-dependent capabilities that interact with the electromagnetic environment in ways that require careful engineering, structured testing, and rigorous validation before operational use. Integration — connecting EW hardware, software, antennas, and processing systems into a coherent operational capability — demands both EW domain knowledge and broader systems engineering skill.
CellQual provides engineering support for EW system integration and field validation. Our role is as a technical partner: we support the integration of EW systems into their operational platforms, manage the testing program, conduct field validation, and provide the documented evidence that the system meets its specification before operational handover. We do not design or manufacture EW systems.
Field validation goes beyond laboratory testing. It confirms that a system performs as required in the actual electromagnetic environment in which it will operate — with real-world signal conditions, platform interactions, and operational use patterns. CellQual plans and conducts field validation programs that give defense organizations confidence in their EW capabilities.

Integration testing confirms that the components of a system work together correctly — that the hardware interfaces function, the software communicates as expected, and the system as a whole operates according to its design specification. Field validation confirms that the integrated system performs as required in the actual operational environment — with real-world electromagnetic conditions, platform movement, environmental factors, and operational scenarios. Both are necessary for confidence in an EW capability.
EW system integration typically involves access to classified information, controlled technology, and security-sensitive operational environments. CellQual handles all EW integration work in accordance with the applicable security classification requirements and access control arrangements specified by the customer and the relevant government authority.
A structured integration programme produces acceptance test reports, discrepancy reports for any issues identified and resolved during testing, system configuration baselines, test evidence records, and a formal system acceptance certificate. CellQual produces this documentation as part of the validation programme, providing the evidence chain needed for operational certification.
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is the ability of an electronic system to operate without causing unacceptable interference to other systems in its environment, and without being susceptible to interference from those systems. EW systems integrated into vehicles or platforms must be EMC-compatible with all other installed systems — communications radios, navigation equipment, sensors — and the EMC of the integrated system must be verified as part of the integration programme.
When full system documentation is unavailable — a common situation with legacy or third-party EW systems — CellQual applies a characterization approach: measuring system behaviour empirically, establishing a functional baseline, and designing the integration around measured rather than specified parameters. This adds time but allows integration to proceed without complete documentation.
