Operational readiness means that a system can be deployed and is capable of performing its mission to the required standard when called upon. For an EW system, this includes the hardware being serviceable, the software being current and correctly configured, operators and maintainers being trained and current, and the system's capability being appropriate to the current threat environment. Readiness degrades over time without deliberate maintenance and support.
