Interference investigation
Field measurement and analysis to identify and characterize interference sources affecting mobile networks, private radio systems, or other spectrum users.
CellQual provides spectrum engineering, interference investigation, and spectrum management advisory services for operators, regulators, enterprises, and government bodies working to maintain reliable operation in congested or contested radio environments. CellQual works vendor-independently, which means our interference investigations and spectrum recommendations reflect the technical facts of the situation rather than any supplier's commercial position.
Radio spectrum is a finite and increasingly congested resource. Interference — whether from other licensed spectrum users, unlicensed devices, intermodulation products, or malicious sources — degrades network performance in ways that are often difficult to diagnose and resolve without specialist measurement tools and engineering expertise.
CellQual provides spectrum engineering and interference management services covering the full range from initial measurement and source identification through to resolution and ongoing management. Our work spans mobile network frequency planning, investigation of customer complaints related to coverage and quality, interference hunting, co-existence analysis, and spectrum advisory for licence applications and spectrum auctions.
We also support regulators and spectrum management authorities with independent measurement campaigns, co-existence studies, and technical advisory on spectrum policy matters. The electromagnetic spectrum environment is complex and requires rigorous measurement-based engineering rather than assumption.

CellQual can investigate a wide range of interference types including co-channel and adjacent-channel interference from other licensed users, intermodulation interference from multiple co-sited transmitters, passive intermodulation from antenna infrastructure, and interference from unlicensed devices including consumer electronics, industrial equipment, and wireless broadband systems.
Many interference problems can be resolved through technical means — frequency changes, filter installation, antenna realignment, or power adjustment — without regulatory involvement. However, interference from another licensed operator on their authorized frequency may require regulatory coordination. CellQual advises on the appropriate resolution path for each situation.
A co-existence study is a technical analysis of the potential for interference between two or more radio systems. It is typically needed when new spectrum is being licensed adjacent to existing users, when a new technology is being introduced that shares spectrum with existing services, or when organizations are considering whether their systems can operate in proximity without unacceptable mutual interference.
Passive intermodulation (PIM) occurs when two or more signals combine at a junction point in a passive component — antenna, connector, cable, or feeder — that has become non-linear due to corrosion, loose connections, or contamination. PIM generates new signals at frequencies that can fall in a receive band, degrading receiver sensitivity and network performance. PIM is increasingly significant on high-tower sites with many co-located operators. CellQual can identify PIM as an interference source and advise on resolution.
The national telecommunications regulator manages the licensing of radio spectrum. When interference arises between licensed users, the regulator can adjudicate the case and require the interfering party to resolve the problem. CellQual can assist in preparing a technically rigorous interference complaint and providing the measurement evidence required to support regulatory action.
